What's new Wednesday: Big eyes review

last sunday I went to the cinema to see big eyes.
The film is based on a true story, dealing with the question of art and copyright in the 1950's. I do not want to say too much in case you haven't seen it, however, if you tend to have trouble with the whole dark/ gloomy atmospher in Tim Burton films, in this one it wasn't as present as it is in other films he has done.
I thought we could sense some of Tim Burton's work in the scenery and the episodes where the artist's work merges into the percepetion of reality. Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams are the main protagonists, their duo is at the same time a source of attraction/ emotion and repulsion. Christopher Waltz known for his gripping bad guy roles, portraits the two facettes with brio.
The soundtrack of the film, well there was only one song at it was at a key moment of the film, bringing a higher impact to the scene and Lana Del Reys voice went perfectly with the moment that was filled with tension and fear.
On a whole the film has a happy ending, it deal with various social issues of the 1950's such as womens place in society and art.
I enjoyed the film and I think that seeing it in the original version (english sub french) made the it more enjoyable, if you have the choice between dubbed and original I'd recomend the original version.
Thank you for reading =)
